For  a tea party, I made my mom's special ginger cookies, and this time dipped them in chocolate. They are nice and gingery, and the pepper gives them a bit of heat.

2 C all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tbs ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp black pepper (Essential!  I used to leave it out which was a mistake.)

1/2 C white sugar
2/3 C oil
1 egg
1/4 C molasses
1/2 C chopped candied ginger (Also essential)

Add top mixture to bottom mixture.
1 inch balls - no more than 8 minutes at 350 (they burn easily!)
